Our Vision for Europe

Church Altar

Why Europe Needs
the Gospel

Europe was once a powerful beacon of gospel light to the world. But today, that light has dimmed. The continent is now marked by widespread spiritual darkness, cultural secularism, and moral confusion. Less than 5% of Europeans identify as evangelical Christians, revealing a deep and urgent need for spiritual renewal across the region.

A Crisis of Morality
& Worldview

The Protestant Reformation was a pivotal moment in church history—a bold return to Scripture. Yet over time, the passion it ignited failed to take deep root. The Enlightenment ushered in new philosophies that challenged the Bible’s authority and Christ’s centrality. These secular ideas—popularized by thinkers like Marx, Freud, and Darwin—have profoundly shaped modern Europe, leading to a culture often defined by skepticism, cynicism, and a naturalistic worldview. Today, Europe is widely considered post-Christian.

The Rise of Islam

Islam is now the fastest-growing religion in Europe. Between 1989 and 1999, the Muslim population more than doubled. The United Kingdom alone is home to over 700 mosques and more than 2.5 million Muslims. In cities like Edinburgh, large mosques stand prominently, symbolizing the growth and influence of Islam, not just as a religion, but as a socio-political movement.

A Revival of Paganism

Modern paganism is also on the rise. Across Europe, ancient rituals and festivals have seen a revival. In Edinburgh, for example, the Beltane Fire Festival—celebrated each year on May 1—draws over 15,000 attendees in a celebration of nature and mythology. Events like this reflect a cultural shift away from Christianity and a growing embrace of pagan traditions and spirituality.

How We Reach Europe

Among all global regions, Europe remains one of the most spiritually dark. Deeply secular, morally relativistic, and often resistant to the gospel, it is a mission field often overlooked but urgently in need. In the spirit of the Apostle Paul (Acts 19:9, 10), we believe that training leaders is the key to long-term gospel advance. The need is clear: Europe desperately requires contextually relevant training for church planters and missionaries—training that lays solid biblical foundations and equips believers for effective leadership and ministry.

Training Leaders for Gospel Impact

Jesus’s solution to a world without the gospel wasn’t mass evangelistic events—it was training leaders. In his time, no churches, seminaries, or Christians existed outside Jerusalem. Yet, his method was simple and powerful: personal mentoring, Spirit-filled teaching, and sending out trained leaders to multiply his mission.

We are committed to following this Jesus model in Europe. Our mission is to equip a new generation of leaders with:

  • Theological depth

  • Practical ministry skills

  • Spirit-empowered living

These leaders will be prepared to plant, grow, and lead churches that are Christ-centered, culturally relevant, and rooted in biblical truth. With decades of ministry experience, trusted relationships, and proven strategies, CBU is uniquely positioned to meet this moment with bold, strategic action.

Our Vision

“I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable... proclaiming the whole counsel of God.”
— Acts 20:20,27

We envision Europe transformed by the gospel’s power, seeing leaders trained, churches planted, and lives changed.

To help make this vision a reality, we are establishing a permanent ministry training center at St. David’s Church in Bathgate, Scotland—a strategic location in the heart of the continent. This center will serve as a hub for equipping and sending missionaries, church planters, and evangelists across Europe.

In addition to our ongoing work in Scotland and Ukraine, we've been investing in:

But without a permanent presence in Europe, our capacity has been limited. Now, through a strategic partnership with Centrepoint Church in Scotland, we have purchased a building and are launching a fully resourced ministry training center at St. David’s Church in Bathgate, Scotland.

This center will serve as a launchpad for equipping leaders and planting churches throughout Europe.
