Our Preeminent Christ
Never before has it been so important for God's people In a day when everthing that can be shaken is being shaken, we look to the Rock from which we were cut (Isaiah 51:1). In a day when every wind of doctrine tries to distract and blow God's people off course, we come back to our strong foundation, our deliver, our high tower - our beautiful Lord Jesus.
Every conference CBU does is important: we address a theme that speaks prophetically to where the Body of Christ is at particular moment. And while that’s always true, it is particularly true for our upcoming November conference. We are gripped with the weighty seriousness of this moment: “to him who has ears to hear, let him hear!” You do not want to miss this conference.
What is that God is doing and speaking at this time? God is calling his Church to worship, follow, and fulfill the commission of its Lord. In a world where everything is changing – and changing faster than ever – it is very important that we are faithful to God’s central vision. Peter Lord has said that “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.” And the main thing is currently, always, and forever Jesus.
Our conference theme is this: Our Preeminent Christ. After explaining to the Colossians that Jesus is King of the Cosmos, Head of the Church, and Lord of Salvation, Paul summarized the majestic nature of Christ like this: “He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent” (Colossians 1:18). It is the Father’s intention that Jesus come to have first place in everything: our lives and families, our work and our worship, mission, our churches and our mission.
There are multiple ways that the enemy is working to defeat, distract, and discourage God’s people. God has better for us.
